Chilipeppers Ranked #6 by National Soccer Rankings - Foul We Cry! Print E-mail
on 21 Oct 2006
It is now clear one should not only ask, " Why rank'" but also," How do you rank?"

The National Soccer Rankings has dropped the Chili Peppers from #5 to #6 in the country. The Far Post Report begs to differ with this ranking and suggest geographical bias may be inherent in the rankings of NSR. Here is our case...

It is clear to us that the Chili Peppers would be higher were it not for the tremendous summer storms which hit Ohio in the past month. Had the #7 Warren County United Blue been able to compete against # 10 ASC Eagles out of Naperville, Illinios they would have knocked off or lost to a top 15 team. Unfortunately weather, we believe, would have kept these two top teams from playing, if they had been scheduled, robbing them of the chance for a big win (which would have catapulted them up at least one spot) or a big loss. If # 4 St Louis SC - Wiipke of MO had played any of the games they may have cancelled due to weather they may have lost and slipped lower in the rankings - making way for the Peppers. In addition, #6 Dallas Sting Royal 95 may have missed a chance to play #17 D'Feeters 95 from Farmers Branch, Texas due to thunder showers, which are fact of life in Texas. The game was not scheduled but it may have been if thunder showers were not in Texas on a regular basis.

Based on our reasoning those with tornadoes, hurricanes, summer thunderstorms, Nor Easters, and hail storms have a inherent bias built in the rankings - in their favor.

The Peppers, with nice Californian weather, have not been hampered, by weather, in their games. Had they been they may have moved higher because they would not have lost as many games. Heaven forbid there's an earthquake in California - the Peppers could move on to the Fifa rankings with all the games they could miss....

In any case, our argument is not with the Chili Pepper rather the ridiculous system of ranking U12 Girls teams on a national basis. How do the Holmdel Hornets of NJ rank above the Deep Run Valley Charge of PA? How do JB Marine - Skirvan of MO rank below team Chicago Blue Dolphins of IL? Howdy do de rankings ........
