Three Santa Clara Sporting players are being threatened by CYSA North due to non - payment of ODP State fee's. The fees range $1729 to $829 per player. Santa Clara Sporting has been notified that their players will be ineligible for State Cup starting now. Santa Clara Coach, who asked not to be identified told us, " This is ridiculous.......the best players have to pay the most to be involved at the highest level. I will never encourage my players to attend the CYSA ODP again. It is a joke! I don't even have my players for the next few months due to their schedule." The coach told us, the CYSA official told him, "If they can't afford it, they should not of signed up for it......". This is US Soccer's National Team identification program. Between the cost of the program and the lack of interest, at the State Level, in cooperating with the clubs schedule, we have to wonder why any coach would encourage players to pay for this program. The program costs more if you are invited to be held over at the Regional Camp. The Italian U15 National Team trains twice a year for four days.
