Pacific Soccer Academy Director is in England with a few boys from Northern California. He has agreed to share his experiences with the Far Post Report. Here is part I.
Hello from Durham, England,
On Sunday 5 boys and their parents along with myself and two other PSA officials all boarded the train and traveled through the countryside to watch a brilliant soccer match played in the snow between Manchester United and Middlesborough. The score ended at 2-2 and the all the goals were spectacular finishes that had the boys bursting with excitement as we watched the best players in the world from the 6th row in the stadium.
The boys then started their training with the Sunderland Academy on Monday the 7th but with 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground, the outdoor session was cancelled and they went indoor to do fitness testing. With a variety of fitness and skill testing regiments the boys did everything from shooting accuracy tests to speed agility courses. They all recieved very good marks comparable to those of the boys who presently are academy members. Starting on Tuesday we will train twice a day from 10:00am to 12:00 then again from 4:00 to 6:00 with intersquad matches played everyday in the second session. Then on Thursday and Friday we should compete in matches against neighboring academies and clubs from throughout the area.
I'll send more this evening after the days sessions are over.
