Steve Cronin played his first season as the starting goalkeeper for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. After three years as a reserve, the former Bella Vista High School standout started 22 games for the Galaxy this season before breaking his right hand Aug. 30 against New England. The Galaxy (8-13-9), which had its season end Sunday with a 2-2 tie against FC Dallas, failed to reach the playoffs, a disappointment for a team that includes mega-stars Landon Donovan and David Beckham. Cronin, 25, played internationally for the Under-17 and Under-20 U.S. national teams.
