Question: Who is the best American soccer player?

Landon Donovan? Tim Howard? Clint Dempsey? Freddy Adu?

Answer: None of the above.

It's Giuseppe Rossi, a 5-foot-8, 22-year-old forward who was born in New Jersey and grew up there and now plays for Italy. If there were any shred of doubt, that was erased Monday at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Pretoria, South Africa, where Rossi came on as a 57th-minute substitute with the reigning World Cup champions trailing 1-0 and scored two spectacular goals in what would become a 3-1 win against his birth nation.
