You tell us -- Who is the top youth club in Northern California? Print E-mail
on 20 Nov 2006

What is going on here? We only have four girls clubs ranked in the top 100 across the nation. We have only four boys clubs ranked in the top 100 across the nation.

Girls National Soccer Rankings: Danville Mustand #15 in the country . Santa Rosa United  #39, Pleasonton Rage #51, MVLA #82, San Juan #121, Mount Diablo Velocity #317, Placer United #359, San Ramon Azzure and LaMorinda #391

Boys National Soccer Rankings: Santa Rosa United #60, Santa Clara Sporting #82, De Anza Force #87, Cal Odyessy #90, Mustang Red #217

What does this mean? How do they rank a club? How do the Mount Diablo Velocity get ranked ahead of San Ramon Azzure and LaMorinda? How do the Rockford Sirens beat KFC blast of, you guessed it, Kentcuky? How do they do this? Does anyone know?

Readers are asked to participate in this discussion. The question is posed - Who is the top club in Northern California:

We believe the top club should be:

The Club who develop players and places them, on a regular basis, in college, the US National teams, the MLS or other high level programs

The Club who takes young players and develops them year after year

The Club who achieves with their older teams using their older players - not guest players

Our Votes go to:

Girls - Danville Mustang, Santa Rosa United

Boys - Unable to vote due to lack of knowledge about number of players leaving clubs into the next level - help us out here!
