Soren Akeby of Sweden quotes from the latest issue of Soccer Coaching International.

On the 1-4-3-3 versus the 1-4-4-2:  " I prefer to play 4-3-3, but I believe it demands more of every single player to play that compared to the 4-4-2.

I have always said that's easier for the individual player to  hide a bit more in the collective when playing 4-4-2 compared to 4-3-3, where you'll have to use and show more of your individual skills. For example in transition from attacking to defending, you will need better players on the flanks winning the 1v1 situations that occur. You are better positioned in a 4-4-2 organisation because you will for most of the time only lose your forwards in the transition."

On charactar:  "When I look at a player I believe the most important thing is the players charactar. A player with great charactar is someone who understands that being a professional is lost of hard work and there is no shortcut to success. You'll have to work hard and be consistent."
